Since its foundation, the C.I.S.A. Andrea Palladio historic photo library has been collecting art and architecture photos that offer clear evidence of the state of conservation of the buildings by the Vicenza architect from the middle of last century. They also document Palladian buildings around the world. An important section is dedicated to civic and religious buildings in the Veneto region.
The photographic holding has been regularly expanded with images from new photographic campaigns and by the acquisition of private archives. There are more than 16,000 photographic prints in the historic collection and about 2,500 from new campaigns. All the material has been digitalised and put into a database that at present can only be consulted at the Palazzo Barbaran da Porto premises. The hard copy archive of elevations of all the Palladio buildings can be consulted in digital format. A third archive contains the CISA library’s antique texts: 14 printed texts have been digitalised, including the first editions of works by Andrea Palladio and the most important foreign editions of I quattro libri dell’architettura. The digital acquisition of seven sixteenth-century editions of Vitruvius’ De Architectura has recently been completed.
